Carlsbad High School Class of 1973: Register for the upcoming 40th reunion by calling (575) 361-0308. Do so before September 15th. The reunion itself is scheduled for October 11th.
Low Rider Car Show: One Lite of Southern New Mexico will hose the second annual car show on September 28th. Stop by Crus Fernandez Park (606 Pompa St.) between noon and 6p.m. (when the awards will be handed out). Vendors are needed. Also, come see the Battle of the DJs. Proceeds will benefit the Carlsbad Literacy Program.
Child and Adult Care Food Program: Participants at the Child Development Center (902 W. Cherry Ln.) will be offered the same meal.
Pottery Lessons: Stop by the Pottery Studio (School St.) for pottery lessons from The Carlsbad Area Art Association. Fees for membership and supplies.
Volunteer for CASA: CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) begins training new volunteers soon. These volunteers will help decide what’s best for abused and neglected children currently in the foster care system. It’s only three to four house each week. Call (575) 887-5966.
Carlsbad High School Class of 1948: Attend the “Remembering Our Class Reunion” on September 14th at Stevens Inn (1829 S. Canal St.). Register that morning. Call (575) 885-2968 for more information.
Packs for Hunger: Donate your new or gently used backpacks, individual meals, or monetary funds for the 2013-14 academic year. Call (575) 361-2699 for more information.
Boy Scouts Food Drive: To benefit Packs for Hunger, the boy scouts are accepting food donations from 9 AM – noon on November 2nd.
Sunday Activities for Children: Children from 2-years-old to entering 6th grade can resume Sunday activities starting September 15th at First Baptist Church (112 N. Alameda St.); call (575) 887-1158 for more information.
The First Baptist Church Fall Celebration Revival: From September 8th to 11th, stop by the First Baptist Church (112 N. Alameda St.) for worship services with Evangelist David Crain. The schedule is as follows:
Worship Services: Sunday, 8:15 AM, 10:45 AM, 7:00 PM
Worship Services: Monday-Wednesday, 7:00 PM
Lunch & Bible Study: Monday-Wednesday, 11:45 AM
Kid’s Night (Grades 1-6): Monday
Bring Your Friends & Family Night: Tuesday
Youth Night (Grades 7-12): Wednesday
Ladies’ Bible Study: Come study the Book of Ephesians from 9:30 to 11 AM every Tuesday, starting September 10th. Stop by the First Baptist Church (112 N. Alameda St.). Nursery and Mother’s Day Out provided.
Carlsbad High School Classes of 1967, 1968, and 1969: A reunion for all three classes will be held on October 11th a the Riverside Country Club (1700 W. Orchard Ln.), beginning with the Homecoming Parade at 4 PM. Email email@example.com for more information.
Grief Support: Especially with September 11th reminding us of tragedy, it’s more important than ever to take care of yourself mentally and emotionally. Join the Mending Hearts Support Group on the first and third Monday of ever month. The meetings begin at 6 PM at Central Christian Church (305 N. Oak St.).
Hospice Volunteer Training: Want to make a difference? Volunteer in a hospice center. Training begins at 10 AM on August 15th at the Home Care Connection & Hospice (513 S. Canal St.).
