Obesity Rates Finally Decreasing Among Children

For decades, childhood obesity rates have either stayed the same or increased.

Finally, though, we’re seeing decreases in obesity among low-income preschoolers has declined in “small but statistically significant amounts” in nineteen states and territories, and New Mexico is one of them.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention tracked the height and weight of about 12-million children between the ages of two and four.

Thanks to programs like Michelle Obama’s Lets Move and changes to the government food assisted programs like WIC, we can hope these healthy changes will continue.
