Meet Our Team!

At Carlsbad Open MRI we are more than just a team – we are a family, and we want to introduce our family to you! Our staff at Carlsbad Open MRI is professional and welcoming. We value our patients and aim to make everyone who comes through our doors feel comfortable and at home. We hope that as you get to know us, you’ll feel confident entrusting your care in our hands.

Amanda is one of our office assistants; she’s worked at Carlsbad Open MRI since 2010, after she graduated from High School.

She tells us that her favorite thing about working at Carlsbad Open MRI is “knowing we are one of the first steps in patient care; we help patients get on the right track to being well. I also like working at Open MRI because I know we give patients great care at fair rates.“

Outside of work she enjoys going to her sibling's sports activities, being outdoors, and reading whenever she gets the chance.

Darrek is trained in MA, phlebotomy, and x-ray, which he does for Carlsbad. He has been in the medical field for 21 yrs, and did his training in Phoenix Az. as and X-ray Tech. He also trained as a medical assistant and in phlebotomy.

He’s been with Carlsbad Open MRI almost from the beginning. He started part time about 2 weeks from the time of opening, then went full time 2 weeks later in November 2005, and says that “I have been here providing friendly service since.”

Darrek tells us that “One reason I like about Carlsbad Open MRI is I can empathize for our claustrophobic patients. Since I'm extremely claustrophobic myself. I try to explain the process to them as if it was me having the MRI. It seems to help them get through the process for the MRI.”

Darrek believes in the Golden Rule. Treat others in the same way that they would like to be treated. “So I treat people as if the way I want to be treated. So I try to give the best friendly service to meet all of my patients needs. Carlsbad Open MRI has a wonderful team that I love working with, we are here to make your MRI experience a good one.”

His hobbies and things he likes to do away from Carlsbad Open MRI are traveling, spending time with his children, and fishing. His favorite thing? Cooking and competing in the Annual Chili Cook-off. Some day when he retires from Carlsbad Open MRI he wants to open a restaurant or a bakery.

Alvin Doporto is our expert in Magnetic Resonance Imaging at Carlsbad Open MRI.

Prior to working at Carlsbad Open MRI, Alvin was employed for 10 years at Carlsbad Medical Center. As a multi-modality technologist he performed x-rays, CT scans, MRI’s, special procedures and operating room procedures. In 2011, he was named Carlsbad Medical Center’s Employee of the Year.

He obtained his associates degree from New Mexico State University at DABCC in Las Cruces, NM. After finishing college, he has since furthered his studies and is now certified in Radiography and Computed Tomography.

Training and working across the western United States, he has brought back a wealth of knowledge in the health care field. Alvin, says the highlight of his career so far was working at University of California at San Francisco (UCSF), deemed “One of the Top 10 Hospitals in the Nation”.

His most recent achievement has been receiving ACR accreditation at Carlsbad Open MRI, which is considered the Gold Standard of Accreditation!

Alvin says his main goal working as a MRI technologist is making sure his patients are as comfortable and relaxed as possible. In doing so this ultimately provides the best images possible for patients and the radiologist.

In his off time he enjoys hunting, gardening, and spending time with his family.
